THE ORIGINAL “SOFTAIL ” DESIGN WAS BORN – AND SHELVED – IN THE MID-’70S. IT WASN’T UNTIL 1986 THAT THE FACTORY COMBINED ITS BRAND-NEW EVOLUTION ENGINE WITH THE SOFTAIL FRAME FOR THE ORIGINAL FLST. THIS BASE MODEL BORROWS FROM THE LOOK OF THE ’49 THROUGH ’57 FL “HYDRA-GLIDES” THAT CAME WITH A RIGID FRAME AND HYDRAULIC FRONT FORKS. THE FLSTC “HERITAGE SOFTAIL CLASSIC” THAT CAME OUT IN 1988 DID MORE THAN BORROW SUGGESTIONS FROM A CERTAIN ERA; IT DOVE HEADLONG INTO THE CUSTOM WORLD OF YESTERYEAR. HARLEY KEEPS THE LINE ALIVE WITH ITS NEW, 2016 FLSTC THAT COMES WITH ALL THE FAMILIAR TOUCHES FROM THE PAST, PLUS AN ENGINE READY TO MOVE INTO THE FUTURE.

THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON HERITAGE SOFTAIL CLASSIC HAS BEEN OUTFITTED WITH A HIGH OUTPUT TWIN CAM 103B ENGINE, NEW AIR CLEANER COVER, A NEW MOUNT SYSTEM HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE REDESIGNEDD SADDLEBAGS, AND COMES WITH THE LEFT HANDED CRUISE CONTROL. IT ALSO HAS BEEN GIVEN A REMOVABLE SEAT PILLION, AN H-D DETACHABLES WINDSHIELD, ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS), AND IS AIR COOLED. THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON HERITAGE SOFTAIL CLASSIC SADDLEBAGS HAS ENOUGH SPACE FOR A WEEKEND GETAWAY AND HAS BEEN RESTRUCTURED.

Easy Rider 40th Anniversary

Peter Fonda, who played Wyatt in the 1969 cult classic, Easy Rider, was in Glendale, CA on Friday to help promote the Blu-Ray release of the film which marks the 40th anniversary. The movie was scheduled to be shown at the Love Ride event that was canceled this year, instead the film screened at a local Harley-Davidson dealer. One of the film’s main objective was to expose violence and racism in the U.S. in a negative light but instead it seems that it was taken the wrong way with most, glorifying the lifestyle that was portrayed in the film.

Bobby Petrino’s Harley-Davidson Available for Auction – Comes With Baggage

A 2007 Harley-Davidson Road King Classic reportedly belonging to former University of Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino is up for auction. Listed as salvage title, the Harley-Davidson is painted in the school’s colors and features a razorback boar – Arkansas’ mascot – painted on the fuel tank with the words “Hawg Wild”. Sports blog ArkansasaSports360.com reported it can confirm the bike was the one Petrino crashed April 1.

Harley-Davidson Donated $4.5 Million to Various Causes in 2012

Harley-Davidson donated more than $4.5 million to support various charitable groups in 2012. The donations, which include both grants and merchandise, went to several organizations, including those around Harley-Davidson‘s bases in Milwaukee, Wis., York, Pa., and Kansas City, Mo., but also to groups across the nation. The Milwaukee chapter of Habitat for Humanity received a $200,000 grant for its Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, helping fund housing projects in the Washington Park community.
