Harley-Davidson Softail description

2005 Harley-Davidson Softail Deuce FXSTD, Skull highlights and a 2-up seat w/backrest plus a windshield give this Deuce the perfect blend of style and function. Extras: Skull windshield (quick detach) Skull grips Skull pegs Vance Hines pipes 2-up seat w/backrest These big-twin motorcycles capitalize on Harley's strong value on tradition. With the rear-wheel suspension hidden under the transmission, they are visually similar to the 'hardtail' choppers popular in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as from their own earlier history. In keeping with that tradition, Harley offers Softail models with 'Springer' front ends and 'Heritage' styling that incorporate design cues from throughout their history. The Softail models do not have rubber-mounted engines. This led to more vibration in Evolution-engined Softails than in rubber-mounted Touring or Dyna models with Evolution engines. To compensate for this, current Softail models use a counterbalanced version of the Twin Cam engine instead of the regular Twin Cam engine used in the Touring and Dyna models.

Zero Motorcycles Promotes Askenazi to CTO

Tue, 24 May 2011

Zero Motorcycles has promoted Abe Askenazi to the position of chief technology officer. A former Buell engineer, Askenazi joined Zero Motorcycles in 2010 as vice president of engineering where he played a vital role in developing the company’s 2011 line-up, overhauling over 80% of Zero’s existing electric motorcycle line-up while adding the Zero XU and street legal versions of the Zero X and Zero MX in just 10 months on the job. “Abe’s ability to effectively execute on an aggressive product development plan, select the best new technologies and rally his team is remarkable.

Harley-Davidson Wire Sculpture

Thu, 12 Nov 2009

Contemporary Artist Derek Kinzett is based out of the U.K. and works with wire to create some stunning sculptures. I cant imagine how long it must have taken to make this Harley-Davidson replica but I am sure he is well compensated.  Kinzett has even been commissioned by Nicolas Cage, hopefully he received his payment before Cage’s IRS bill came in…

Three-Year-Old Motorcycle Prodigy?

Tue, 18 Aug 2009

Even though Tiger woods started paying golf at age two, this story of a three-year-old boy from New Delhi, India is probably just as impressive, maybe more.  Azeem Khan, photographed on the Royal Enfield Bullet above, has been granted a special license by judges in India allowing him to ride his motorcycle on side roads but is not allowed out on the main roads by himself. Khan’s father had to customize the bike so that the young boy could reach the controls and prove that he could handle the motorcycle on his own. I used to sit him on my bike and he would always grab at the controls.
