The 2013 Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight model XL1200X is one of the garage custom motorcycles in the Harley Dark Custom line. This bike cruises down the road with a 1,200 cc Evolution engine – an engine with a true Harley-Davidson soul. New for 2013, the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight model comes with optional Hard Candy Custom paint, a large metal flake paint finish that recalls the iconic styling of 1970s custom bikes, and offers blazing color showing through a deep, rich finish. The Forty-Eight model also has an authentic peanut tank which first appeared on Harley-Davidson back in 1948 (its name origin) and has been a defining Sportster feature ever since. The front end of the bike looks beefy with its fat MT90 tire. The Harley Sportster Forty-Eight model look is enhanced with the lowered front and rear suspension. Harley-Davidson Goes Low for 2015
Tue, 26 Aug 2014Harley-Davidson revealed the new 2015 Electra Glide Ultra Classic Low and Ultra Limited Low, offering what it calls the the lowest seat height of any premium touring motorcycle on the market. Designed with riders 5 feet 7 inches and shorter in mind, the two Low models have a seat height of 25.6 inches from the ground, or 1.7 inches lower than the regular models. The lower seat isn’t the only change to accommodate shorter riders.
Harley-Davidson Consolidates Businesses in Spain, Portugal and Italy
Wed, 16 Oct 2013In response to the continuing economic struggles in southern Europe, Harley-Davidson announced it will combine its operations in Spain, Portugal and Italy into a single business unit to be called SPI Motor Company. Harley-Davidson says the new company, which officially begins operating immediately, will be better positioned to respond to the challenges of the market. The new company will be led by Regional Managing Director of Operations Yves-Olivier Allamagny, formerly the director of Harley-Davidson Italy.
Harley-Davidson Museum Announces Black Leather Jacket Exhibit
Thu, 09 Feb 2012The Harley-Davidson Museum is opening a new exhibit dedicated to an iconic piece of motorcycle culture: the black leather jacket. The “Worn to be Wild: The Black Leather Jacket“ exhibit will showcase the ubiquitous article from many riders’ wardrobe.The exhibit includes over 100 artifacts including jackets designed by fashion houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Gianni Versace, as well as jackets worn by celebrities such as Elvis Presley. “The leather jacket symbolizes different things for each person who wears it, whether they are a motorcyclist, celebrity or a top designer,” says Bill Davidson, vice president of the Harley-Davidson Museum.
