Harley-Davidson Other description

I bought this 1975 Harley Davidson Shovelhead FLH.  It needed lots of work and had not run in four

years.  Living in Northern Wisconsin, I had plenty of time to take the bike apart and proceeding in doing

a complete overhaul.  As I took the bike apart, I found more problems that I was not aware of.  Mice had

eaten the wiring harness; tires were dry cracked, etc.  So, I decided to start from the ground up.  Yes I

have all of the receipts for rebuilding this bike.  After complete disassembly, the frame and swing arm

were taken in for new powder coat and clear coat.  Two new Michelin Road Commander tires were

installed and balanced.  The original gas tank and fenders were cracked at all mounting points.  They

were replaced with all new tin and had it custom painted at Hagan Kustoms, down in Iowa.  The engine

is a 93 cubic inch S & S motor, 4 ½ inch stroke S & S crankshaft, S & S rods, S & S pistons, S & S heads, S &

S Super E carb with S & S intake manifold, S & S 5:12 cams with S & S super stock ignition, along with

Sifton rocker shafts and polished rockers, and new 8.8 mm plug wires.  All parts have only around 400

miles.  I left the stock cases, as the numbers match the frame.  It has two inch straight pipes with a set of

custom chrome baffles and new heat tape on both pipes.  Both front and rear brakes are CMS Billet.

Chrome inner and outer primary, with custom covers.  Clutch is a Barnett.  The starter bendix collar and

jack shaft are new, with a new all balls 1.4 KW starter.  Transmission is a four speed ratchet top, with

new linkage and forward controls.  Front end is completely rebuilt, with all new seals and forks, and new

bearings and cups on the triple tree.  Has seven inch chrome headlight, with complete chrome FLH

covers.  All of the cables are new.  I put LED turn signals and LED tombstone taillight, with a complete

new custom wiring harness, new turn signal, horn and starter buttons and new handle bar wiring.  New

speedometer with cable.  New custom chrome, full length, flamed dash.  Handmade skeleton hand

mirrors.  New grips with throttle rest.  Chrome wrap around horse shoe oil tank, all oil lines and clamps

replaced.  Seat and back rest were new a year ago.  New battery and cables.   Looks very old school.

Includes back rest and bags.  It runs excellent and anyone would be proud to own this bike.   I have over

$12,500 invested in this bike, since last year.  Due to unforeseen bills, I am selling this bike.  Bike is

located near Green Bay WI.   I reserve the right to end this auction early as it is for sale locally.  Any

questions call Mike at (715) 758-6381.

Marlon Brando Estate Files Suit Against Harley-Davidson

Tue, 17 May 2011

Brando Enterprises, an operating entity that protects the Marlon Brando brand on behalf of the actor’s family, has filed a lawsuit against Harley-Davidson. The suit alleges Harley-Davidson used the legendary actor’s name without a license for a leather riding boot called “The Brando”. “It is interesting that Harley-Davidson – a company that is vigorously protective of its own brand – would seek to exploit an iconic property without benefit of a licensing agreement,” says  Jeffrey I.

Fundraising Harley Prints By 8-year-old MDA Ambassador On Sale

Tue, 10 Sep 2013

MDA Ambassador Reagan Imhoff wanted the artwork she created with Harley-Davidson designer Mathew Hintz to “raise a lot of money for MDA so we can have more scientists to make medicines.” The original drawing of a purple Harley-Davidson Softail Breakout motorcycle brought in $3500 on August 31 at the MDA auction during the 110th Anniversary Celebration. The pair hopes to raise even more with sales of the limited edition, signed prints, available through www.HintzStudios.com. “I’m happy our artwork raised some money, and hope we sell all of the prints!” said Reagan, who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a painful neuromuscular disease.
