Harley-Davidson Other description

1972 Harley-Davidson Police Bike, This is a very original 1972 FLP Police Bike. The story that I got when I purchased this bike was: The police officer who rode this bike on duty purchased it for himself when it went up for sale. He rode it around until the early 1980's. He felt he had gotten too old to ride, but didn't want to get rid of it. He kept it in his garage and started it up regularly. He passed away and his wife kept the bike until approx 5 years ago. A friend of mine found out about it and told me. I ended up buying it for my collection. I have started it up and ridden it around a bit, not much. The miles are actual, so that shows how much road this good ol' bike has seen! The speedometer is original, the seat is original, the center stand (kickstand) is original. I just put a brand new battery in it. The paint on the tank and rear fender looks to be original. It looks like the front fender might have had some paint work done at one time. The bike doesn't appear to have ever been jacked with. I've noticed that when it sits for a long time, the clutch tends to stick. It may need to be cleaned or the bike might just need to be ridden. All of the numbers match on the bike. It starts right up and runs good. It sounds just like a good ol' Shovelhead should sound! This bike does not have a price on it because it is being auctioned on Ebay. It can be seen in person at my dealership. I am a dealer. I can issue a permit for an additional $3, if the high bidder wants one. If sold to a resident of KS, I will have to collect sales tax (7.15%). If you have any questions, please feel free to call Larry @ 316-393-5275 from 9am - 9pm CST.

Thu, 22 Mar 2012

Harley-Davidson Museum today posted on its Facebook page a selection of photos it received as part of collection of images and memorabilia donated by a former Harley employee. According to the Facebook post former H-D employee Bob Jameson donated “ two scrapbooks, numerous photographs, news clippings and other company related materials” for the museum’s collection. Jameson, following in his father’s footsteps, worked for The Motor Company, and in 1960 helped develop a motorcycle suited for use in the Vietnam war.

Mon, 20 Apr 2009

John Gibson had a vision 15 years ago to sell ice cream from a motorcycle sidecar, inspired while running as he listening to motivational guru, Tony Robins. After years of experimenting with different bikes and setups, including using the Russian made Ural (he once owned a Ural dealership), Gibson, finally settled on the Honda 750 Shadow and the Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster. The Cool Cycles Ice Cream Company is open for business, the headquarters are located in Tacoma, WA where they will start selling franchises within a 100 mile radius, the Los Angeles area will be next and Las Vegas to follow.

Want to Buy the Pope’s Harley?

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

In February, Bohnams auction house in Paris will allow both the Catholic and the Harley faithful to bid on a Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide owned by none other than Pope Francis, himself. Given to the Pope last year as part of the Harley-Davidson 110th anniversary celebration, the bike was unlikely to become the Popecycle because of the security required to protect the pontiff. The Pope donated the Dyna to the Roman Catholic charity Caritas Roma but not before signing the tank with “Francesco” at a special ceremony at the Vatican last November.
