Harley-Davidson Other description
A nice old shovelhead for your consideration
I bought this bike to help an acquaintance out of a rather immediate financial jam. With that said I will tell you what I KNOW and believe about the bike. It's 44 years old, he owned it 9 years. Anything before that I/We have know firm knowledge of. This bike was actually last ridden, licensed and insured summer of 2016. I am selling the bike as "non running" because I can only get it to occasionally "pop" now. It's FREEZING here in Michigan and frankly I know little about these older bikes. I would rather just tell you it does not run... than have very different expectations as to "what runs fine" in an old shovelhead. THE TITLE MATCHES THE FRAME NECK AND THE ENGINE MATCHES BOTH OF THEM!! The lights work The electric start works and turns the engine over as it should with apparently great compression The transmission "shifts" when gently rocks back and forth and "shifted" the brakes works and release just fine the horn does not work The cool whitewall tires are recent in the last couple of years and have good tread with no cracking seat in real nice shape. It's a Mustang brand. chrome in nice shape... the front rim has very slight surface rust... I did NOT try to clean or steelwool it at all... I mearly wiped the bike off with a damp rag. I believe the rims will clean up pretty nice. The rest of the chrome is nice. The bike shows 4416 miles. The previous owner bought it 9 years ago out of Missouri, he said it had 3000 miles on it. That is all I know. Does not seem like many miles... but I have a 1976 Yamaha in my garage with 1981 miles... so it does happen leather saddlebags and removable windshield are included, as is a "sissy bar bag" as pictured The paint is really nice on the tank and rear fender and the top and front of the front fender... unfortunately sometime in the last 9 years the horn came loose and scraped and slightly dented the back of the front fender. The flames are not affected, so repair will be less painful should you decide to get it "spot fixed" THIS IS A VERY COOL LOOKING BIKE IN PERSON AND SHOWS PRETTY DARN WELL!! please feel free to ask questions and request special pictures contact me ahead of time if you have less that 10 positive feedback!!! 300.00 deposit via paypal and immediate contact from buyer is required no paypal for entire purchase!! Overseas sales are just fine, I will work with your shipper and help load. I will not arrange shipping or pay for it, but I will cooperate fully with him. PLEASE DON'T BID IF YOU CANNOT COMPLETE THE DEAL... CHECK YOUR SAVINGS ACCOUNT AND ASK YOUR WIFE FIRST PLEASE!!! they don';t all think a 40 year old Harley is that great an idea Bike must be picked up by Dec 26 as I am leaving for Florida for the winter!!! no reserve... somebody is going to own this VERY VERY cool shovelhead... Merry Christmas!! Bikes is 30 miles north of Detroit 48023 |

Harley-Davidson Recalls Over 100,000 Touring Models, 1400 Street Models
Wed, 01 Oct 2014Harley-Davidson has recalled more than 105,000 Touring models from the 2014 model year, and approximately 1400 Street models from the 2015 model year. This possible failure could cause a reduction in pressure available to keep the clutch disengaged, according to the NHTSA.
Small-Displacement Class Considered for 2015 AMA Pro Racing Season
Wed, 04 Dec 2013More and more manufacturers are entering the small-displacement sportbike market and AMA Pro Racing has taken notice, opening the possibility of adding a new racing class representing the growing segment. With plans to consolidate the Daytona Sportbike and Supersport classes and the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series signed through 2015, a spot will open up on race weekends for another racing class to support the premier Superbike Championship. The logical choice is to introduce a new small-displacement class.
