Harley-Davidson Other description

I am the 3rd owner of this original survivor 1971 Electra Glide equipped with HD tour package. I purchased from an older man in March 2011 with the intent of adding some modern features to this classic piece of American history such as braking, ignition system and fuel as I started researching and cross referencing which parts work on what and going over the bike I quickly learned that this bike was really a piece of unmolested history other than fuel lines and ignition parts this had been untouched. And I decided that I could not molest it it as I had planned on doing that it would be better off preserved so all of that being said.  A little history of how I found this machine. When a customer of mine and I were talking about an old 36 Chevy originally restored he had mentioned a the same man had this 71 Electra Glide, I was looking for an older bike HD SH to work on and ride a little so he hooked me up with the man that had it, This man was the second owner and he was telling me how it was that he had came upon the bike and the first owner and that it was in the back of a bread truck a step van and only had 750 miles when he purchased it the wheels were very rusty and the chrome finish on the wheels could not be saved though the wheels were in great operational shape so he had them powder coated black he cleaned the gas tanks, changed the oil and replaced the plugs and rode around he titled it in 93 and I purchased it in 2011and in that time he but south of 2750 miles on it the bike now has 3671 miles on it I have had for 5 years I live in the country and would take it out on evenings and weekends occasionally with no tags I may have put 100 miles on it. If you look at the Md. Title the title clerk marked the title as saying it had 750k miles rather than 750 and this is why on my title it shows miles not actual all though it is it would require more time to rectify this misprint than I am willing to invest. So check out the pics ask questions. Also I do have the correct chrome battery cover. The battery is dead at this time it does run has a fresh oil change HD 50w oil, gas tank was emptied when I had stored it. I have put a gallon of ethanol free 93octane in it to fire it up. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. I reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time for I have it listed locally as well. Buyer needs to give a 500.00 deposit with in 24 hours of winning bid. The remainder due upon pick up.

Harley-Davidson is closing its cast wheel and hub producing subsidiary New Castalloy, deciding to outsource production to third-party suppliers. Based in Adelaide, Australia, New Castalloy produces about 1,450 wheels and 500 wheel hubs per day for Harley-Davidson. That work will be transferred to outside suppliers by the middle of 2013.

The TwinTrax Is A Machine Straight From Mad Max

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

Just look at this motorcycle for a moment. A creation of the German Motorcycle Authority, the TwinTrax is nearly 107 inches long, weighs 882 pounds, and took owner/builder Christoph Madaus 12 years to complete. Oh, and don’t forget the two Harley-Davidson V-Twins powering this thing.

Dave Grohl Drums to the Sound of a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle

Fri, 31 Jul 2009

I’ve got a lot of respect for Dave Grohl.  He’s amazingly talented and very driven.  Even after Nirvana, the guy is still kicking and in the spotlight with the Foo Fighters and the millions of other side projects he’s done (ie: Queens of the Stone Age). Apparently he’s also a big motorcycle guy. Harley-Davidson did a little video on Dave, featuring him drumming on a snare drum to the exhaust pipes of a Harley-Davidson.  The seven minute video goes on about how Mr Grohl bought his first motorcycle when the Nirvana album “Nevermind” started to become big.
