Harley-Davidson Other tech info
Harley-Davidson Other description
Very rare 1949 Spring Fork OHV 74 CI Harley Davidson FL. Motorcycle is complete as found, with title, with VERY old repaint, and surface checking all over sheet metal. This bike has a wonderful patina, and runs very strong. Motor rebuilt under stringent guidelines. Transmission shifts as new Motorcycle operates wonderfully, and frame as straight as an arrow.
Late 49 frame with flattened down tubes and rectangular horn mounts as was in constant production by serial # 10,000. Narrow style spring fork bracket with TC-20TF forging number 19, exclusive to 1949. VIN is crystal clear, line bore numbers match. VIN matches title. The history of this bike as I know it, includes first sold out of service at a police auction in the early seventies. The bike has had two owners since then, and is once again being offered for sale. The bike was one of less than 480 spring fork Panheads, so without question, an extremely rare survivor. Bike has been authenticated by top AMCA members, and is a date coded (May, 1949) 4 speed transmission. There is evidence of fender repair where siren was once mounted on rear panel. The bike is a dream to ride, and is without any argument at all, the rarest of all the Panhead production models. Reserve is fair and honest. Please message me or call for further details at 651-357-2069. I am offering the bike locally and internationally and may remove at any time if bike is sold. Shipping to be arranged and paid for by buyer. Paypal of $1000 deposit required within 48 hours of auction close. On Nov-18-15 at 13:41:24 PST, seller added the following information: Recently added belly numbers and partial VIN. On May-30-16 at 15:44:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Date code on rear head is Feb. of 1949, front head is April of 1949. |
