Harley-Davidson Other description

Fully restored 1947 Harley Davidson FL74 Knucklehead. This bike has been in a friends collection for the last 10 years and has been ridden very little. He is selling now due to ongoing health issues. The bike was fully restored about 15 years ago and has been stored in climate controlled conditions since with almost no riding time and occasional startups. Bike was supposed to have been purchased new by a wealthy family and kept by them in their collection until it was sold to the previous owner. The current owner is owner #3 as far as we can tell. The title is free and clear in the current owners name. The bike appears to be 90% original with some after market parts. The restoration appears to have been done professionally and was a complete disassembly . All painted components have ben repainted. Bike starts and runs very well , trans shifts as it should and clutch  is very smooth. I installed a new ,correct 6v battery and new spark plugs, changed engine and transmission oil, cleaned fuel filter, and test rode a few miles.  Starts as it should .Speedometer has the original face , appears to have been rebuilt at some time, which is typical of this speedo. Mileage is believed to be original,15,980. Tires are excellent reproduction units in perfect condition. Seat is original with newer seat cover. Bike has period after market gas caps, fairly rare, and period cheese grader bumpers front and back. This bike, according to the matching  engine numbers, would have been in the last 200 Knuckle heads or so produced before Harley began production of the Panheads in mid 1947. The cheese graders probably were installed at the dealer as they were starting to appear in 1948. The pictures speak for themselves, this is a beautiful example of one of the most iconic motorcycles of all time. This bike is being offered with a reserve that reflects current market conditions, if the bike receives strong enough bids, the reserve may be lowered or eliminated. The owner wants to sell , don't miss this opportunity to own this magnificent piece of American history.  Please check my feed back as I do not misrepresent any bikes or items I have sold. Bike is sold as is ,with no warranty or guarantees of any kind. Please ask questions before bidding . Shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. Good luck

On Jul-19-16 at 17:14:53 PDT, seller added the following information:

The actual percentage of original components is unknown by the seller. There are no records known to exist of the restoration process. Serious bidders should inspect the motorcycle before bidding to confirm the bike is satisfactory to them. The owner is not an expert and does not guarantee the originality of any given component to this motorcycle. The original 90%  in the description was just a estimate of original components.
