Harley-Davidson Other description
In 1937 the AMA had established the new racing category, class C, or "same as you can buy" for motorcycles. The goal the Motorcycle Association had in mind was to get private owners back into the competition. The motorcycles entered in Class C had to begin life as stock machines purchased out of the front door of dealerships. This class was limited to 45 cubic inch or 750CC side valve engines for flat track and road racing events. These regulations favored the Harley Davidson and Indian's side valve models over the English and European OHV higher performance bikes.
The rules initially required competitors to ride their bikes to the events, so Harley sold their WLDR fully equipped with all road equipment-finders, brakes, generator and headlights. The factory offered support and encouraged privateers through its dealers, with a full array of parts and pieces for these machines as well as the very latest in research and development for the WLDR.
This 1937 WLDR was set up as a factory racer. It boasts a rebuilt engine with factory "racing kit", which includes big finned cylinders that feature larger intake valves and intake ports that allow the use of the M53's Bombsite's venturie carburetor , heavy duty valve springs, racing flywheels and high lift cams. It has a rebuilt two bolt transmission with an early narrow clutch and primary with a pre 41' chassis, 18 inch wheels and narrow brakes. It has a WRTT 2 into 1 road race exhaust system, and a wico magneto factory racing ignition.
This bike can easily be converted for street use if that is preferred. Bill of sale will be included. Please don't hesitate to ask if there are any questions that you need answered. Thank you for your interest and happy bidding!!

Harley-Davidson Denies Plans for Small-Displacement Model for India
Fri, 18 May 2012India’s 13-million-unit-per-year motorcycle market is comprised of mostly small-displacement models, so it sounds odd at first when manufacturers such as Harley-Davidson and Triumph enter the market with their larger-displacment models. The question quickly arises as to whether they will stick with their existing big-bore models or introduce an all-new, small-capacity model for the Indian market. Manufacturers like the Big Four from Japan already produce smaller models for other markets so it’s a relatively easy task for them to introduce new models such as Honda‘s recently launched 109cc Dream Yuga.
Small-Displacement Class Considered for 2015 AMA Pro Racing Season
Wed, 04 Dec 2013More and more manufacturers are entering the small-displacement sportbike market and AMA Pro Racing has taken notice, opening the possibility of adding a new racing class representing the growing segment. With plans to consolidate the Daytona Sportbike and Supersport classes and the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series signed through 2015, a spot will open up on race weekends for another racing class to support the premier Superbike Championship. The logical choice is to introduce a new small-displacement class.
