Harley-Davidson All description

Up for sale is a one of a kind award winning chopper. Built by my buddy Thom Jones (semigoods / block plane studio) last year for Born Free 7, this Panhead is part survivor, part custom build. The frame and front end were purchased out of Kentucky built originally in the 70's. The history of the frame is unknown, only the initials "K Jorli" are welded into the transmission crossover bracket. The frame, tank, and fender were taken down to bare metal, prepped for the 3500 mile ride to Born Free from Seattle Washington, then molded and prepped for paint by, Denis Babin. The paint is truly one of a kind and captures the spirit of the 70's, which was the overall goal of this custom build. The engine was built 2 years ago by Thom and has a little over 9000 miles on it. The cases are perfect, 1963 FL cases with matching bellies and not a single repair. The engine was built up with 84" truett & orbourne torque monster flywheels, h-beam rods, jims pinion, crank and mainshaft, jims races, Andrews J grind cam, Keith black Pistons and rings, STD heads, kibblewhite valves, S&S springs, OEM timing chest gears, OEM tappet blocks/ tappets/ pushrods, OEM oil pump, OEM cylinders .030 over, cycle electric generator/regulator, and an S&S Super E intake and carburetor. The engine was built to exacting standards and is in perfect mechanical condition. The transmission is a 1958 HD transmission with OEM ratchet lid and kicker cover. The frame is an original 1949-51 Panhead wishbone, with a custom offset wishbone single downtube design. The tank is a wassell hap jones with a dished right side. The fender is a custom molded and shaped truck fender. The wheels are Invader, 16" rear with a 21" front. Stock mechanical rear brake with custom linkage up to a stock, modified brake pedal. Stock OEM mousetrap with a heel shifter setup and custom linkage. Front brake is a unique and custom "mechanical disc" which is pretty neat looking, but is purely a decoration.  The custom rigid front fork was believed to have been built with the frame as was the sissy bar, which guided the design of the primary "boot guard" , license plate mounting bracket and right side downtube ornamental panel. The hand controls are stock HD, along with the rigid oil bag, and chain guard. The bike was built with the period in mind and no concessions were made to ensure the authenticity of the finished product. The bike was completed 14 months ago and then embarked on a 4500 mile trip from Seattle to Los Angeles, via the 395 then back north to Seattle and up into Canada. The bike has various signs of being on the open road, such as paint cracks and chips, repairs and such, all of which give it an incredible patina. Most everyone that sees the bike, assumes it's a survivor, so if you are considering purchasing please understand this bike has been ridden and is by no means a trailer queen.

The bike has been featured in Easyriders Magazine along with a story of the trip to born free 7, where it won the "best chopper" award. The bike will also be featured in Hot Bike / Street Chopper August Issue yet to be released on news stands. A video of the bike running can be found below on you tube so be sure to check out the link.

This bike is in perfect mechanical condition and is titled in Thom's name and is free and clear of any issues.

Shipping will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. International bidders are more than welcome to bid, but again, shipping will be your responsibility and the bike must be picked up from our Thoms in Seattle by your shipper.

Please contact Thom directly with any questions and concerns. All photos of condition are in the listing, but if you need more photos, please do not hesitate to ask. Thom can be reached at thomjones013(at)gmail(dot)com and 917.607.014five. Please respect the pacific time zone as the bike is in Seattle, WA.

What am I gonna do with a gun rack?

Wed, 27 Jul 2011

Living in Shoreditch I come across a unique variety of motorcycles on the road; from XS650s, to classic Lambrettas and one completely brown jelly-mould CBR600. My favourite of the regular bikes I see is this Harley-Davidson badged Armstrong MT500. In my head I like to think that the owner operates as an urban vigilante, realistically whoever rides this ex-Army bike is probably an artist and instead of a weapon in the gun holder it's probably art equipment.

Pope Francis To Auction Harley-Davidson For Charity

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

During Harley-Davidson‘s 110th anniversary celebrations earlier this year, Pope Francis was given not one, but two Harley-Davidsons, a 2013 Heritage Softail Classic and Dyna Super Glide Custom. Not one for gaudy excess (or a motorcycle ride for that matter), Pope Francis has decided to put both up for auction. Specifically, the Pope has donated the bikes to the Caritas charity near Rome.
