Its been said that every motorcycle has a story, and this 1980 Ducati made in the late year of 1979 is no exception. Unfortunately I can only give you the last half of Her history. It started for me one evening in the emergency room that i work in. I had been taking care of a very sweet little old Lady who came in feeling very ill, as the night went on She started to ask me about my personal life, She asked; Do you have a Wife? Children? What do you do when your not at work? as the conversation went on I told Her that I was divorced, Have a amazing beautiful Girlfriend, and I spent most of my free time working on vintage motorcycles, usually a 1970's Norton Commando or a 1960 Triumph Bonneville, Discovered vintage motorcycles in my early twenty's when everyone else was nuts for "Japanese crotch rockets" (meaning FZR's, GSXR's and Ninja's) She replies in a very enthusiastic voice; "My Cousin died a year ago and We have some vintage motorcycles We need to sell!" She goes on to tell me that they already sold His Bugatti sports car, but Her Nephew Mike still had Her late Cousins vintage Moto Guzzi and Ducati. I was of course all ears, She gave me Her Nephew Mikes telephone number and I called Him a day or so later. Spoke with Him on the phone and He told me a little about the motorcycles, He was also nice enough to email me some photos of the bikes They were absolutely beautiful, I tried calling him again several times and never heard back from. Ultimately I gave up assuming they must have sold the bikes. So almost a full year goes by and my cute little old Lady comes back into the emergency room for something minor, She asks "So whatever happened with the motorcycles?" I told Her what had happened not being able to get ahold of Mike and everything. She explains to me that Mikes Wife had fallen in the bath tub and had some pretty serious complications from the head injury she sustained. His poor wife Had to go to therapy to learn to walk again. She further explained that they still had the motorcycles and Mike was clearly busy with His wife's misfortune. I felt terrible about what Mikes Wife and him had gone through, however I was delighted to hear they still had the motorcycles. So I called Mike and we spoke about a price and then He goes missing in action again! this time several months had gone by.. Ultimately Mike called me back and explained that his Aunt, my sweet little old Lady Patient had passed away and He was busy taking care of the arrangements and what have you. I told Him I was terribly sorry too hear this and to take all the time He needed a few weeks later Mike calls again and a conversation about what He wanted for these 3 motorcycles, (1963 Moto Guzzi Falcone 500, 1980 Ducati 900SS, 1987 BMW K100) it was agreed that We would meet at his Brothers house in Pasadena California in 48 hours! I live in the San Francisco bay area mind you, So the next morning I went out looking for a large truck too rent and the only thing I could find at the last minute was a enormous moving van. So off I drive to Southern California, spent the night in a hotel, and the next morning I go to meet Mike and His Brother at his beautiful house in Pasadena, In the back detached garage are the 3 motorcycles. Sitting for years in the garage with the warm dry weather of Pasadena they were nearly flawless, hadn't been running for some time but i wasn't concerned, I figured after cleaning the carbs and changing the oil and new batteries I would probably get them fired up. So Mike tells me that He doesn't have titles! huh? I could have swore we went over this, I was taken back some but was determined to acquire these 2 Vintage Italian motorcycles and the BMW, So I offered a couple thousand dollars less than our original figure and Mikes says; Ok I will do that price but your taking the Biplane. . . Huh? Biplane? He wasn't joking, His beloved Uncle the Architect was in the middle of building his own airplane! it was hogging up most of the garage and they wanted it out! So I said fine not knowing what I was going to do with the plane, maybe take it too a scrap yard. After carting everything home and taking a good look at the airplanes fuselage, landing gear, throttle body, fuel tank I saw that His Uncle had spent a lot of money and time on his SkyBolt biplane project, So i decided to advertise it and luckily found a Gentleman who had the knowledge and wherewithal to complete it. When I got to working on the Moto Guzzi and Ducati I was delighted the Moto Guzzi fired right up and ran wonderful. The Ducati however started but I knew it wasn't running like it should, being a little over my Head with the Ducati I asked my friend Fred Myer to look at it. I knew if anyone could get Her dialed in it was Fred, Fred has restored many British and Italian Motorcycles. He has even won an award at the prestigious Concours d'Elegance in Monterey After taking the top end off Fred found that the cylinder's needed new seats and a valve job was in order. So we had Edco. in Petaluma do the work. Another thing that i had noticed early on was the Ducati had Ahmal Mk2's, I was surprised at this as you know a 1980 Ducati should have Dellorto carburetors, either 32mm or if the original Owner opted for the "race package" 40MM Dellortto's. So I hunted all over and found a pair of new old stock DellOrtto's specifically made for the 1980 Ducati 900SS . We also purchased and EMS shim kit to properly adjust the Desmo valve system. She starts and runs beautifully. Now all She needs is a loving home were She will be ridden as intended, She is simply too big for me. I appreciate all this Motorcycle is and enjoyed to journey of bringing Her back to life but I am after a early 70's Norton Commando my first and true love, or a Lotus Esprit that i have always wanted.

Ducati Spotted In Madagascar! + Video

As a motorcycle manufacturer, you know you’ve made it big when animated animals want to ride your products. Such is the case with Ducati and its cameo appearance in the movie Madagascar 3. Admittedly, I have yet to see the third installment of the hugely popular movie series in which the gang of zoo animals gets stuck on an island, but I suppose the cameo will appeal to those moto-parents who were dragged to the theater by their kids.

The documentary, narrated again by Ewan McGregor, follows the 2010 and 2011 MotoGP campaigns of Valentino and tackling his new rivals in the youth contingent of Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Ben Spies. Going behind-the-scenes Fastest charts the high and lows of last season, including Rossi's career-threatening crash at Mugello and his spectacular return to racing just 41 days later at the German Grand Prix, and shows his debut on the Ducati for the 2011 season.

Official 2014 MotoGP Entry List Released

The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) released the official entry list for the 2014 MotoGP Championship including 23 riders representing 13 teams. The final entry list also lists each rider’s status as either a Open or Factory class rider. The eight Factory riders are allowed to use their teams’ own proprietary ECU software but are otherwise limited by a freeze on engine development, a limit of five engines for the whole season and just 5.3 gallons of fuel per race.
