2011 Ducati Multistrada 1200

Intro

A versatile bike equipped with several modes to accommodate various conditions in driving, the 2011 Ducati Multistrada is available in a choice of four different models. The base Multistrada 1200 offers a sporty and dynamic road performance. The Multistrada 1200 S Sport Edition features more sporty dynamics and is geared specifically towards performance. The Multistrada 1200 S Touring Edition adds more versatility for touring such as heated hand grips and a roomy storage compartment. The special edition 1200 S Pike Peak is a tribute model with unique features that is inspired by Ducati’s win at the 2010 International Hill Climb. All models feature the same high performing 1198.4-cc engine that delivers an astounding 150 horsepower. Its smooth and adaptable performance offers excellent power and increases the Multistrada’s versatility under any driving conditions. This engine is paired with a six-speed transmission that achieves better fuel economy and increases rider comfort with less vibration.

The rider is offered four choices of pre-set driving modes when riding the Ducati Multistrada, including Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro modes. Each mode varies in engine character and chassis set-up to suit the needs of the various driving conditions. The Sport riding mode gives the rider an athletic 150-horsepower ride with a sporty throttle response. The Touring mode offers the same horsepower as the Sport mode, though the power dynamics are better suited for a smoother ride that is more user-friendly. The Urban mode turns the Multistrada 1200 into a rather reasonable transport for everyday riding. Power output is cut to 100 horsepower, and the S model’s suspension adjusts to accommodate bumpier road conditions and deliver more comfort for the rider. Traction control is further enhanced to compensate for stop and go traffic as well. The Enduro riding mode also reduces the horsepower to 100 and with the S version adjusts the suspension further to make for some great performance offroad.

A powerful superbike, the Multistrada gets some of its marks for performance from its relatively light weight, coming in at 417 pounds without the fuel tank filled. Its distinctive Italian design helps set it apart from the competition as well. The

Mutistrada is available in a choice of red or Arctic White, while the S version comes in either of these two colors or Diamond Black. Loads of available accessories add to this superbike’s appeal to consumers, with choices including various styles of aluminum wheels, different winsdscreens, a variety of styles of passenger seats, and more. Comfortable for driver and passenger, with options such as heated grips and a satellite navigation system to further accommodate long rides, the 2011 Ducati Multistrada leaves no stone unturned with this offering.

Around the world on a Multistrada

Tue, 07 Jun 2011

Ever since Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman rode their BMW’s around the world it seems anyone with a ‘GS’ has an open ticket to ride around the world and then write about it. And fair enough, if I could afford the bike and the trip then I’d be gone as well. Obviously, BMW reaped the rewards when Ewan and Charlie showcased what their GS could really do, changing BMW’s image from solid but stuffy, to solid and cool overnight.

Report: Ducati Technology in Future Audi Two-Wheeler

Tue, 17 Jul 2012

Audi‘s acquisition of Ducati is still yet to be finalized but that hasn’t stopped the automaker from discussing a possible product of their union. Speaking at the opening of the new Audi City digital showroom in London, Audi sales and marketing Chief Peter Schwarzenbauer hinted a two-wheeled Audi is on its way, with Ducati playing a vital role in “future mobility solutions” for urban travelers. Schwarzenbauer tells British car site Autocar the new motorcycle or scooter will not simply be a “Ducati wearing an Audi badge.” The phrases “future mobility solution” and “urban” are usually used together when discussing scooters, so an Audi scooter may be more likely than a motorcycle.
