Massimo Tamburini: 1943 – 2014

Massimo Tamburini, creator of some of the industry’s most iconic motorcycle designs, has succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 70. Tamburini was diagnosed with the disease last November and underwent chemotherapy treatment but passed away April 6. Earning renown for designing motorcycles such as the Ducati 916 and the MV Agusta F4, Tamburini’s name will be forever linked with those two companies, as well as Cagiva and helped found Bimota (Tamburini is the “Ta” in the company’s name.) 2015 Ducati Monster 821 Revealed

Just over six months after Ducati revealed its Monster 1200 at EICMA, the Italian manufacturer announced another new liquid-cooled member to its naked roadster line. Sharing the same 90° V-Twin engine as the Hyperstrada and Hypermotard, the new Monster 821 shares many design cues with its 1198cc sibling. The 821cc Testastretta 11° engine, claiming 112 hp and 65.9 ft-lb., is housed in a steel trellis frame similar to that on the Monster 1200.

Official: Rossi Leaving Ducati for Yamaha Return

In a pair of carefully-timed press releases, Ducati announced it will part ways with MotoGP star Valentino Rossi at the end of the season and Yamaha announced it has signed Rossi to a two-year contract. The arrangement had been in the works for some time now and the two manufacturers had reportedly wanted to wait until Aug. 15 to make their announcements.
