Bobber Bobber description

No reserve on this bike. Highest bid over $14999 gets this bike. It is priced to sell. This is the highest quality bike you will ever get for the money.

For sale is the "38 Bike" featured on the cover of Cycle Source magazine in July of 2008. (Magazine and framed pics of magazine layout included with sale.) This bike was built in 2007 by Kip Watkins of Watkins Boyz Customs in MIchigan. It was built in tribute to Kip's Father and the # 38 comes from  the year of his father's birth. This is absolutely a one of a kind motorcycle.

This bike has an 80 cubic inch, 1340 cc H arleyDavidson Evolution Engine, aftermarket cam, black krinkle paint, S&S super E carb (new), Performance Machine intake and breather with K&N filter (new). Also included are the custom machined dual velocity stacks and intake breathers (pictured in magazine) that I removed for air filtering purposes. Custom machined aluminum pushrod covers, custom machined voltage regulator cover, 5 speed Harley Transmission, BDL 2" open primary with blacked out custom machined finned belt guard and covers (This is the small 2" belt primary.), custom round finned red oil tank, Kraft Tech hardtail frame with 34 degrees of rake, custom machined black halogen headlight, custom machined black forward controls and shift linkage, 18 x 4 black 100 spoke American Wire Wheels, Avon tires, 180 rear tire, 150 front tire, Custom clip-on handlebars, custom machined fork legs and front end shortened, custom triple trees, custom machined sidemount taillight and license plate holder, custom gas tank with knee cutouts, custom gas caps, custom paint with gold #38 inlay, Hawg Haulters sprocket / brake setup. Hawg Haulters front brake. Carbon fiber tank panel. Custom diamond stitched seat. Custom exhaust with stainless steel exhaust tips.  Joker machine rear view mirror. This bike does have a key ignition integrated into the primary cover so you can walk away from the bike and not worry about someone hitting a button to start your bike like many customs I've seen. The bike is super light and plenty fast.

I purchased this bike from a friend of Kip Watkins (Watkins Boyz). When I purchased the bike, it had never really been ridden. The rubber tits were still on the tires. I had a custom  bike shop that has been featured in many magazines themselves make several improvements to the bike to make it a real rider. I removed the unusual oil filter from  the front and installed a trick unit that has a stainless mesh design that is reusable and it just looks awesome. I added a front brake to the bike. This is the same brake that is on the back so they match and it works like a charm.. New stainless steel and rubber grips were installed since the originals were all machined aluminum and were very uncomfortable. The rear fender has been extended about 3 to 4 inches so I could make the seat a little larger. The seat was reshaped, recovered with leather and I added the old school stitch pattern to it. A joker machine rearview mirror was added for legal purposes.

I also changed the chain to an O-ring chain. This is important on a hardtail since chain tension must be closely watched. This chain doesn't stretch, so you are not constantly adjusted your tension. Two rear LED blinkers have been installed. They are very small and can been seen in the pictures attached to the frame ends near the axle nuts. The blinker buttons are about a 1/4 " in diameter and are integrated into the clutch clamp. The two into one exhaust was replaced with a custom made pair of separate pipes with custom stainless steel tips that have been sleaved and welded on the ends to better the appearance even more. The sound is awesome. As a result of these changes, the frame and fender of the bike were color matched and repainted to a high quality.

The only blemishes on this bike are around the right side fuel tank. The paint has separated from the tank in a small area around the filler cap. From the research I have done, this appears to be a fairly common occurance on custom  painted tanks. I have done some checking and it appears to be a $200 to $300 fix. There is also a small irregularityon the left side tank that you cannot see unless you are looking for it and have someone point it out. It is difficult to see in the picture I have included. I have included pictures of these areas. I have also dropped the reserve from $17999 to $14999 as a result. I also took care not to make any changes that would make the bike look different than the cover shot on the magazine. This bike looks fresh.

There is no speedometer so there is no real way of knowing the mileage. I would estimate that over  2 years I have put 1000 miles on the bike.  I bought this bike to ride and enjoy and mostly because I thought it was the coolest bike I had ever seen. It runs great and is as reliable as the day is long. Starts easy every time and runs and rides great. (Click the youtube link to see a video of it starting and running.) Parts do not rattle off this bike. You are not always having to fix this or that. You don't take it out and all of a sudden it doesn't run right. I didn't want those issues so I went to the effort to make sure this bike is right, rideable, and as safe as it can be.

There isn't anyone that doesn't love this bike. Even people that don't get into motorcycles tell me how much they love this bike. It is clean, pure, unusual, and sexy. There is nothing like riding this bike. It's the coolest thing I have ever and will ever own. It turns heads like nothing else. The styling of this bike is timeless. Nothing on this bike looks dated like many of the fads that have come and gone. The style of this bike will look as good in 10 years as it does today. I have taken it to one bike show with about 50 bikes and it won Best of Show.  The pictures were just taken so what you see is what you get.

As noted above, I am including the framed pictures of the magazine layout and a copy of the magazine the bike was featured in.  I am also including the original velocity stacks that came with the bike. They look awesome, but I changed it over to the Performance Machine unit because it filters the air and the velocity stacks do not. The original stacks are pictured at the end of the picture list.
