About Beta

The company originated in 1904 as a bicycle manufacturing company named "Società Giuseppe Bianchi" and its first headquarters were in the Italian town of Via Bellariva. Later the enterprise moved to Florence. The name Beta comes from the initials of Bianchi, Enzo and Tosi, Arrigo who ran the company at that time. It’s interesting that at the moment the company is run by Lapo Bianchi - great grand-son of Giuseppe Bianchi who founded BETA motorcycles.

The company first attempted manufacturing motorcycles in 1948, focusing on two-stroke city bikes in the 1950s and 1960s. The production of off-road motorcycles started in the 1970s. These models gained extreme popularity which helped BETA develop motocross, endure and eventually trial bikes. In the beginning of the 2000s they entered the 4-stroke endure market with KTM motors. Nowadays, there is a wide variety of both two-stroke and four-stroke models.

Webb Wins Salt Lake City EnduroCross

From an EnduroCross press release: Factory Beta and Stillwell Performance-backed Cody Webb took a decisive win tonight in Salt Lake City’s inaugural AMA GEICO EnduroCross event. The win was Webb’s second after taking the first round victory in Las Vegas and puts him and his Beta two-stroke 300 into the points lead. The race fans in attendance at the Energy Solutions Arena saw a night go almost perfectly for GEICO-supported Webb.

This weekend the EnduroCross championship makes its way to Denver and the National Events Center for the fifth round of the nine-round series. Truckloads of dirt, mountains of rock and piles of logs are coming together to create an EnduroCross course that’s sure to challenge racers and entertain fans.  Excitement will be a mile-high this weekend as the EnduroCross Championship puts three different race winners into an epic battle for valuable points before the halfway point in the series. Beta/GEICO-backed Cody Webb has led since his first round victory in Las Vegas, but KTM’s five-time champion Taddy Blazusiak is hot on his heels after a big win at the last round in Atlanta and at X-Games. And don’t count out Colton Haaker.

2015 Beta Lineup Revealed

Beta USA has revealed its 2015 models including updates to its entire four-stroke engine range and minor tweaks to its two-stroke lineup. The biggest changes are smaller displacements for most of the four-stroke lineup and the adoption of features previously offered on the Factory-edition variants. Apart from the engines, the two-stroke and four-stroke Beta RR models receive the same chassis updates.

2014 GEICO EnduroCross Series Kicks Off May 2

Fans of EnduroCross will be excited to know the 2014 season is set to get underway on May 2. Entering its 11th season of competition, two new venues will be joining the calendar, allowing more people to witness this exciting indoor off-road racing action. If you’re not familiar with it, EnduroCross tracks incorporate various elements of extreme off road racing into a Supercross-style setting, including rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, a water-hole…and even a few special obstacles like giant tires thrown in!  Known as the “toughest racing on two wheels,” this indoor off road racing is sometimes described as carnage on two wheels, and will certainly keep you on your feet.

Whatever you do, don’t call the Sway an electric version of the Piaggio MP3. While it’s true the Sway does have two forward wheels and one trailing behind, the similarities end there. Oh, and unlike the MP3, the Sway is still in Beta testing.
