BMW R-Series description

Here we have is a nice example of a 1982 BMW R65LS. "The difference between the LS and the standard R65 are dual disc brakes with Brembo calipers on the front wheel, as opposed to a single disc on the standard, which blesses the LS with excellent braking power. In fact, what puts the LS at arms length from the standard R65 and other motorcycles in its category are exclusive stylistic features." This one is still in its original paint, and the tank still has the two toned silver with black underlining underneath. If you open up the seat all of the factory BMW stickers, along with original maintenance stickers can be found. The bike still has its original Owners Manual, Original New Jersey License plate from when it was bought new, and original 1982 title, see picture. Thats right this is still a one owner titled bike! The bike has been sitting since 1990, and all I have done to it was clean it, and rock it in gear to see if the motor turns over, which it did. I have not tried to start it or hook up a battery to it. I will leave the next owner to have fun getting it back on the road. I do not have a key for it.  I will now let my picture slideshow I provided in the listing do the talking. You must use a regular computer or laptop to see the slideshow.  They will not show up with apps, phones, or some tablets. Click on the view all tab at the bottom of the slideshow to see all the pictures.

OEMs Plug into Electric Bikes

Sat, 01 Nov 2008

KTM introduced its prototype electric motorcycle earlier this week, and electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles almost immediately responded by opening sales on its 2009 Zero X dirt bike (look for our review of the 2008 model next week!). But these two companies aren’t the only ones exploring the possibilities of electric-powered motorcycles. In September, Japan’s largest industrial information journal Nikkei Business Daily reported that both Honda and Yamaha have set target dates for launching their own electric-powered motorcycles.

BMW to Partner with India’s TVS Motor Company

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

BMW is getting closer to signing a partnership agreement with India’s TVS Motor Company. The partnership, expected to be finalized before the end of March, would see TVS receive access to BMW technology while the German manufacturer would increase its footprint in the world’s second most-populated nation. TVS is one of India’s largest manufacturers but it has recently slipped to fourth from third behind Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and Honda.

BMW Begins Motorcycle Production in Thailand

Thu, 28 Nov 2013

BMW has opened a new motorcycle assembly line at the company’s factory in Thailand. The facility will initially only produce F800R roadsters from complete knock-down kits for the Thai market, though BMW plans to eventually make the facility a production hub for other Asian markets. The Thai facility is BMW’s first wholly-owned motorcycle assembly plant outside of Germany, though the company does share facilities in Manaus, Brazil with local manufacturer DAFRA Motos.
