BMW R-Series description

I am selling my 1980 BMW R100T Airhead. It is in absolutely amazing, near perfect condition, and is a rock solid reliable daily rider or tourer, though it would make an excellent collection piece as well. It is located at my house in Fort Collins, CO 80526. It has a clean CO street title, and is ready to ride or ship anywhere. It has always been covered and stored inside in a garage with a battery tender. Comes with an original matching Luftmeister fairing installed, and BMW hard luggage sidebags. Comes with service history documentation for last ~10 years.

Body/Paint/Cosmetic
Paint is a 9/10 on this motorcycle. It has been repainted once in Marrakesh Red. It is an excellent repaint, and I do not know the original color. It has been hand pinstriped with white stripes, which are excellent.  There is no rust on the bike anywhere. There are a very few small stone chips on the front fairing that have been touched up well and are not noticeable unless looked for closely. The headlight and turn signals work perfectly on the fairing. The fenders are in excellent shape with no wear or scratches. The tank is in excellent shape with no dents, dings, or scratches. Original BMW rear fender mudguard installed. The paint is excellent under the seat as well. Original tire air pump is installed on it's mounts, and the original storage box is there along with toolkit. Has original BMW grips in great shape. All rubber rider and passenger footpegs are original and excellent. Stebel air horn installed on left side.

Engine/Drivetrain/Mechanical
Engine is in almost perfect cosmetic shape, and is in perfect mechanical shape. Starts right up and runs perfectly. No scratches or wear on engine or valve covers. 36250 original miles (I do ride it regularly, this will increase). Valves recently adjusted and are perfectly in spec. Just rebuilt carbs with all new gaskets and o-rings. No leaks or drips anywhere. Engine oil and filter are recent and fine. Driveshaft and rear drive oil are clean and recent. New spark plugs installed 5 miles ago. Each cylinder has 120PSI (see pictures), right in spec on compression test.

Tires/Brakes
Tires are excellent and nearly new. Brake pads and are nearly new and in excellent condition. Recently flushed and changed all brake fluid. Needs nothing!

This 1980 BMW R100T is in absolutely excellent shape. It needs nothing at all and is ready to ride anywhere. Bike is located in Fort Collins, CO 80526, ready to ride or ship anywhere. I will assist with shipping as needed, though buyer is responsible for arranging and paying for shipping. I recommend haulbikes dot com, they are awesome and have great prices, I use them regularly. I require payment in full within 3 days of auction closing, unless we discuss otherwise. Payment by personal check is fine, though I must keep bike until check has cleared for at least 48 hours. I will accept PayPal personal transfer only. Please let me know if you have any questions, anytime. I can be reached at 619-985-2527.  Local inspection and pickup is fine as well, just give me a call.

2010 BMW S1000RR Price Speculation

Wed, 03 Jun 2009

How’d you like to have the latest, most advanced motorcycle in BMW’s current line-up for $1,000 or less? Now that I have your attention I’ll clarify the above by saying that you can have, at some point, the new S1000RR literbike for a stated maximum of no more than $1,000 over the retail of what most of the Big Four will price their liter machines. This was undoubtedly the biggest news from BMW during the U.S.

New car firm shows interest in bikes too

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

NORMALLY we wouldn’t get terribly excited about an electric moped but this as-yet-unreleased design comes from a new firm that’s already making waves in the car industry. Qoros might not be a name you’re familiar with. The firm has yet to start selling cars in Europe, although that will change soon.

2009 BMW S1000RR Entering Production

Wed, 04 Feb 2009

We’re finally able to share some pictures and info about the production version of BMW’s new literbike, the S1000RR. We now know that it has a claimed dry weight of 403 pounds, which should be competitive with its Japanese literbike rivals. The all-new inline-Four powerplant displaces 999cc, and its cylinder head is said to be very narrow and compact, with the valves actuated by “very small” cam followers that are nearly at Formula 1 levels in size.
