BMW R-Series description

I could tell you this motorcycle has 24,000 and a lot of people might believe that. I am however an honest seller. This is a 1972 BMW R75/5 Toaster tank SWB model. It is all original except for these upgrades, Mikuni Carb upgrade from Rocky Point Cycles, Dyna electronic ignition. I have just done a fresh top end, less than 250 miles on it. When I did the top end I found 10 over pistons in the bores. The cylinders were honed, new rings were fit, the heads were professionally done and everything was assembled with new gaskets. Keep in mind this is a 40+ year old machine and it exhibits some scratches and blemishes, no dents, and the paint is original and shows well.
This classic Beemer features all matching numbers. The fairing, bags, and tour pack are original Wixom Brothers period correct pieces, I have replaced the factory latches which were all worn and broken. The seat is a BMW factory piece. It starts easily and is well sorted. The Metzler tires show little wear. The entire drive train has been serviced and the bike shifts well and the clutch is fine. Brakes are great for drums. Battery is correct and one year old and kept on a tender with the hook up installed. This bike is ready to ride home, even if you live on the West Coast.
Shipping is up to the buyer, I will assist the shipper. I will not crate or palletize this bike for overseas shipping. If purchased with BIN, I will deliver within 250 miles for FREE and include some spares I have for this machine.
I welcome any questions. So don't miss out and thanks for looking at a well sorted vintage machine.

WSBK 2013: Phillip Island Race Report

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Max Biaggi who? The Roman Emperor’s retirement after winning the 2012 World Superbike Championship marked the end of an era for Aprilia, with the 2013 campaign marking the first without Biaggi since the Italian manufacturer came back to the WSBK scene with the RSV4. If Aprilia misses its two-time WSBK Champion, it sure didn’t show it with a dominating display at the 2013 season opener in Australia.

Von Kuenheim: BMW Must Start Winning in WSBK Before Entering MotoGP

Fri, 16 Mar 2012

MotoGP racing may be the next logical step for BMW, says Hendrik von Kuenheim, general director of BMW Motorrad. Von Kuenheim was speaking at a press launch for the BMW C600 Sport and C650GT scooters but took a moment to discuss racing with MotoGP.com. Such speculation about BMW entering Grand Prix racing may sometimes be dismissed as idle musings, but the fact the interview was with MotoGP’s official website holds some significance.

BMW Acquires Original Factory

Wed, 26 Feb 2014

BMW has acquired a 3.2-acre parcel of land that includes the company’s original factory. Built in 1918, the historic site in the Milbertshofen district of Munich, Germany, housed BMW’s original aircraft engine production plant. The company says the land will become the new home for BMW Group Classic, a subsidiary that documents BMW’s past.
