BMW R-Series description

1968 BMW R60-2 with highly desirable and rare original Steib S501 Sidecar. This rig has been restored to like-new condition and the sidecar was recently adjusted for lean, tow-in and wheel lead. It also has the correct tires for sidecar use. Work on this bike over the last ten years amounts to nearly $10K. All work has been done by one of the leading vintage BMW specialists in the world. Work in the last month alone($4128.00) includes complete tune and safety check, cylinder head upgrade - complete rebuild with four new black diamond valves, custom guides with stem seals, new spring kit with lower collars and titanium upper spring retainers. In addition, the carburetors were rebuilt with brass slide modifications to prevent sticking. It starts right up and runs beautifully. This rig comes with a modified Hamlet trailer which was expressly build for this unit. It has a seventeen inch deep diamond deck toolbox, diamond deck, and polished aluminum fenders. When ordered new it cost $3,320. Pulls and hauls perfectly. Three extra tires and rims. Bike also comes with a windshield for the bike and luggage rack for the sidecar. This rig is ready to drive and has been professionally set up to ensure safe handling. Steve Jobs, past CEO of Apple rode a BMW R60/2 and parked it in Apple's headquarter's building to show his employees what quality craftsmanship looked like. This unit is stunning and represents museum quality. One of the best in the world.

Charlotte, N.C., writer and motorcycle adventurer Tamela Rich is heading out on a cross-country ride to raise money for breast cancer causes. Along her tour, Rich will meet with breast cancer survivors and interview them for her upcoming book, “Live Full Throttle: What You Can Learn About Life From Women Who’ve Faced Cancer”. This will be Rich’s second tour across the country.

Drool-worthy new trials bike

THIS is the new Montesa Cota 4RT260 Factory, a sort of BMW HP4 of the trials world. Developed in collaboration with Honda, and the Repsol Montesa Honda Trials team, it’s got a 259cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine designed to compete with smaller two-strokes while producing less emissions. There are two versions, the £5,699 standard 4RT260, aimed at amateur-to-advanced riders, and the more competition-focussed Factory Race Replica version, with Showa suspension, at £6,799.

BMW Rewards MSF RiderCourse Graduates

BMW Motorrad USA is supporting the Motorcycle Safety Foundation‘s rider training course by offering $500 in riding apparel for recent graduates of the Basic RiderCourse program with the purchase of a new BMW motorcycle. The “Ride Smart Reward” program runs until Dec. 31, 2012 and is valid for anyone who completes the MSF’s BRC.
