BMW Other description

2013 Bmw F 800 GT, DYNAMIC PERFORMANCE - Hit the road - the journey begins. The new F 800 GT offers impressive dynamic performance on every ride - whether idyllic suburbs, winding mountain passes or endless highways. A twist of the throttle and 90 horsepower ensure that you really can leave everyday routine behind you. The water-cooled two-cylinder in-line engine with a capacity of 798 cc offers remarkable dynamic performance on every trip, achieving smooth power delivery through its low-maintenance toothed-belt drive. A longer rear-wheel swing arm and tighter suspension ensure a high level of ride stability, guaranteeing superb riding impressions. The F 800 GT also offers control and comfort with suspension and three different seat heights which provide just the right ergonomics for each individual rider. What is more, the optionally available ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) can be used to adjust the rear rebound-stage damping to road conditions at the press of a button. Clean lines and a perfectly adjusted touring windshield instantly promise pure riding pleasure. The F 800 GT also makes its mark in terms of paint finishes: there is something for everyone here, from the spirited Valencia Orange metallic and elegant Dark Graphite metallic through to Light White. Safety is the best travel companion. For this reason, the GT supports every brake maneuver as standard with dual-channel ABS - the most sophisticated system in a mid-range motorcycle. For those looking for an even higher level of safety, assistance is provided by the optionally available ASC. Typical GT. Unstoppable tour.

BMW Motorrad UK has signed seven-time winner Michael Dunlop to race in the 2014 Isle of Man TT and other international road races. Dunlop will be the first factory-backed BMW rider in 50 years, and will try to be the first rider to win a TT race on a BMW since Georg Meier won in 1939 on a RS 255 Kompressor. Dunlop, nephew of the great Joey Dunlop, was the star of the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning four races and finishing second in the Senior TT on Honda machines.

Cal looking good

Sun, 20 Mar 2011 00:00:00 -0700

Make no mistake Cal Crutchlow is doing an amazing job during his short career in Moto GP. He is asking not to be compared to Ben Spies but when you consider Spies had three Moto GP races under his belt at the same point in his career, Cal's 8th position in Qatar qualifying then 11th in the race is a pretty solid start.  He ended 2010 as one of the best world's best superbike riders but the 800cc Moto GP machines require different riding skills. Watching trackside it is easy to see the the riders have to brake later backshift quicker before getting back on the throttle on the corner entry. With the help of advanced electronics this loads the front tyre earlier giving the potential for greater momentum that continues past the apex to the corner exit and beyond.
