Range is not a problem with a tank capacity of 33 liters. Robustness? The G 1200 GS Adventure looks as if it had invented the term - and it certainly has defined it in the motorcycle world. This is partly due to the range of features which have become almost as legendary as the bike itself. On this machine you can take potholes with 20 millimeters more clearance than on the R 1200 GS. Perfect ergonomics, optimum gearing for every terrain. And a chassis which - whether fully loaded or not - will allow you to thrill your pillion passenger as well as surprise anyone ahead of you. Stone chip? Falls? Protectors! Ride on! The special equipment features off-road ESA and ASC continue to be unsurpassed. Unstoppable is their motto. The bike’s unstoppable character is further enhanced with the new DOHC engine, which first displayed its impressive performance in the legendary HP2 Sport. For the R 1200 GS Adventure, torque was given higher priority than output in line with practical considerations. And you can feel it. 120 Newton meters at the peak at 6,000 revolutions per minute is one thing, but the consistently higher level of torque in the relevant range up to 5,000 revolutions per minute can be fully experienced. The output has been increased to 81 kilowatts (110 brake horsepower) at 7,750 revolutions per minute). Michelin Launches New Pilot Road 4 Sport-Touring Tire
Fri, 22 Nov 2013Coming in 2014 is an all-new range of motorcycle tires from Michelin, available in three versions: the Michelin Pilot Road 4, Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT and Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail. Covering virtually every category of sport-touring motorcycle, the Pilot Road 4 line is well suited for motorcycles over 600cc. They were designed to deliver maximum safety in the most common conditions of use, especially on wet roads and in particular when braking. In its press release Michelin also claims extended tire life, which we assume is in comparison to the Pilot Road 3.
Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show
Mon, 28 Sep 2009Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.
WSBK 2013: Portimao Race Report
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty split a pair of victories at Portugal’s Portimao circuit while Sylvain Guintoli took advantage of some misfortune to his championship rivals to increase his lead in the 2013 World Superbike Championship standings. Guintoli has been leading or sharing the lead in the championship since winning the first race of Round 1 in Australia, but amazingly continues to lead despite having just that single victory after six rounds. The Aprilia rider has accomplished this through his consistency (Guintoli leads all racers with nine podium finishes in 12 races) and ability to finish each race (he’s the only rider in the top seven without a DNF).
