BMW Other description

2001 BMW F 650 GS, 2001 BMW F650GS Dakar with 1179 original miles, never abused, and tastefully modified. I purchased this bike from the original owner a couple of years ago, with roughly 700 miles on it at the time. The bike has always been babied, and always maintained. That said, I have not had that much time to ride the Dakar (obviously), but when I have, it has always been exhilarating. Great sounds, wonderful riding position, and a lot of fun both on and off road. In the time that I have had the bike, I have done the following: A&S "The Big One" service kit installed Yuasa battery EBC front brake rotor DID gold chain PIAA's with custom mounts that I made (without modification to the motorcycle) SW-Motech center stand Dunlop 606 tires with about 150 miles on them. I also removed the majority of the decals that originally came on the bike (personal taste), I painted the gauge surround and windshield matte black, and also removed the skid plate/belly pan. With respect to collectors, though, I would be willing to include a new set of decals, the skid plate, and a new gauge surround. I believe that the windshield , at least new, is no longer available Also included are new fork seals (uninstalled), the original brake rotor, and a very comprehensive service and repair CD. The Dakar is cosmetically and mechanically excellent, with only one minor scuff on the bodywork, left of the headlight (see photo) and one on the same side, but positioned at the upper saddle line and practically unseen. Otherwise, I cannot imagine a nicer 2001 Dakar that has actually been ridden, albeit occasionally, over the past 13 year. This motorcycle is the real deal, a true collectors piece. Please feel free to contact me with requests for additional photos and/or descriptive.

BMW Helps Vertically Challenged

Tue, 02 Dec 2008

No matter where they go or what they do, it seems that people who are vertically challenged always get the ‘short’ end of the stick, pardon the pun. Historically, if a pint-sized person wanted to get into the hobby of motorcycling, their choices were limited to bikes like the Suzuki Marauder, Ninja 250 or HD Sportster (the thought alone makes my back hurt.) BMW Motorrad now has good news for riders who either need or simply prefer a lower seat height, but do not want to compromise on model choice. BMW is the first motorcycle manufacturer to launch a range of models that can be ordered from the factory with lowered suspension – to provide customers with low seat height options.

BMW Warns of Potential Defect in 2014 R1200RT Suspension

Thu, 05 Jun 2014

BMW is issuing a warning to owners of the 2014 R1200RT with the Dynamic ESA option about a potential defect with the rear suspension. No formal recall has been announced at the moment; BMW is calling it a precautionary measure, though that may change in time or depending on the market. According to BMW, the piston rod of the rear spring strut could break.
