BMW Other description

1983 BMW R Series RT, 1983 BMW R80 RT Pacific Blue with approximate mileage 100,000. The odometer stopped working but the speedometer works fine. The bike runs great and is extremely dependable. I have owned it since 2001 and have logged many miles on it commuting to work. It has never once left me stranded. The rear tire is new and the new matching front tire is ready to be mounted. They are a matched set of Kenda Challengers. This is the second set of Kenda's on this bike. They handle as well as Metzler's but they out last them by at least 50% and they have a higher load rating than the Metzler's. They also out lasted my Bridgestone's and my Dunlop's and my Shinko's. I also have a new dashboard and a new set of the old style "peanut" valve covers and a new spare clutch cable for it as well as one used spare saddlebag (left side) and the original BMW expandable tank bag and tank cover. The bike has an Odyssey PC925 battery, a lift up rear rack, a Corbin seat with a two position removable back rest and I have the original factory seat that is in very good shape. I think I may have a few new oil filter kits left too. I had progressive fork springs installed in 2002 and they still handle like new. The paint and pinstripes are original and well-worn but still decent. The front discs have always looked worn but they work well and do not grab. Phone 770-487-6723 (please no calls after 9PM) Cash only. I have a link with 17 photos I can send if interested. Thanks $2,400.00 7704876723

Mon, 03 Nov 2008

I have had a little walk around checking out the preparations for the show. I haven’t seen anything that I haven’t already seen or heard about previously, but here’s a selection from three of the halls. Yamaha are the only manufacturer to use an industrial crane to place some of its bikes up on high rise stands.

Mon, 09 Jul 2012

BMW is reportedly in talks with TVS Motor to develop new motorcycles for India. The Wall Street Journal reports the two companies are discussing a possible technological alliance.

European Parliament Makes ABS Mandatory, Tighten Emissions Standards by 2016

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of new rules that would increase emission standards and make anti-lock braking systems mandatory for all new large motorcycles, scooters and trikes and quads by 2016. The new regulations, which would still need approval from European Union member states, may only directly affect Europe, but they will have a wide-reaching affect on manufacturers’ product development for other markets. BMW, for example, has already made ABS standard for all its motorcycles for 2013.
